Mathematics

Maths at Crispin is about building confidence as well as knowledge, so that every student can see themselves as someone who can do maths.

Students are taught by specialist maths teachers in sets, which lets us pitch every lesson at the right level of challenge, and progress is checked regularly so that students move sets whenever that is the right step for them. In Years 7 to 9, students follow a carefully sequenced course covering number, algebra, ratio, geometry, probability and statistics, with problem-solving, finance and STEM applications built in.

In Years 10 and 11, students follow either the Foundation or the Higher tier of GCSE Mathematics. Sparx Maths supports learning at home, and we share guidance to help families support children who feel anxious about maths.
