The House System At Crispin

Belong. Participate. Contribute. Celebrate.

Every student and staff member at Crispin belongs to one of our four Houses: Corvus, Falco, Sturnus or Tyto.

Our House system brings students and staff together from across the school and creates a strong sense of belonging, identity and community. While our year-group structure provides students with their day-to-day pastoral support, our Houses give students opportunities to work with others across different year groups, represent their House, develop leadership skills and contribute to the wider life of Crispin.

From the moment students join us in Year 7, they become part of their House community and remain a member throughout their time at Crispin.

Our Four Houses

CORVUS | FALCO | STURNUS | TYTO

Each House has its own identity, but they share one common goal: encouraging every student to participate, contribute and be proud of their place within the Crispin community.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to represent their House through a wide range of activities and challenges. These include sporting events, quizzes, creative and academic challenges, charity and community activities, tutor competitions and whole-school events.

There is something for everyone. Success is not simply about being the fastest, strongest or most confident; every student can find a way to make a positive contribution to their House.

READY to earn House Points

Our House system is closely connected to READY, our shared language for learning and behaviour at Crispin.

Students can earn House Points every day when staff recognise them demonstrating READY:

R – Respect
E – Engage
A – Apply Yourself
D – Do the Right Thing
Y – Yes First Time

Every House Point has two purposes: it recognises the individual student’s positive contribution and also adds to their House total.

This means that the positive choices students make every day – in lessons, around school and within our wider community – contribute to the success of their House.

Recognition and Rewards

We believe that effort, achievement and positive contribution deserve to be recognised.

Students’ individual House Point totals are celebrated throughout the year, with milestones recognising their continued contribution to school life. We also celebrate individual students, tutor groups and Houses through assemblies and whole-school communications.

Alongside the points students earn every day, House competitions provide further opportunities to contribute to the overall standings.

Throughout the year the competition builds towards one ultimate goal:

The Crispin House Cup

Every point matters.

House Points, competitions and contributions to school and community life all help our four Houses in their race to become Crispin House Champions and lift the House Cup.

House standings are shared regularly so that students can see how their individual efforts are contributing to the success of their House.

Competition is important – but our House system is about much more than winning.

It is about belonging to something bigger, getting involved, supporting others, developing leadership and making a positive contribution to our school and wider community.

At Crispin, everyone belongs. Everyone can contribute. And every contribution counts.

Inspired by the speed, focus and determination of the falcon, Falco celebrates students who set ambitious goals, challenge themselves and strive to achieve their best.

Inspired by the starling, famous for working together in spectacular murmurations, Sturnus celebrates teamwork, friendship and the power of contributing to something bigger than ourselves.

TYTO — Wisdom

Make good choices. Lead by example.

Inspired by the wisdom traditionally associated with the owl, Tyto celebrates thoughtful choices, good judgement and students who lead positively through their actions.
