Social, Moral, Spiritual, and Cultural Development

At Crispin, how students grow as people matters just as much as what they learn. Spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development runs through every part of school life: lessons in every subject, THRIVE, tutor time, assemblies, trips and enrichment. Students are encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and to respect those of others. They learn to tell right from wrong and to understand the consequences of their actions. They explore the many cultures that make up modern Britain and the wider world, and the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance.

Students put these values into practice every day, leading as prefects, peer mentors and School Council members, raising money for charity, taking on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and going on work experience.

We work closely with families and our wider community, because every student should be known as an individual and supported to become a kind, confident and responsible citizen.
