Geography at Crispin aims to create compassionate global citizens: young people who understand the world, their place in it and how they can make a difference. Our curriculum is built around big enquiry questions such as “Is Africa all desert?”, “Is Russia to blame for a UK energy crisis?” and “Why should Street worry about climate change?”.

Students explore these through local and topical examples, and we are not afraid to tackle complex issues. Fieldwork is at the heart of what we do: students investigate climate change in Street in Year 7, coastal landforms at Lulworth Cove in Year 8, and the fortunes of Street’s high street using GIS mapping in Year 9. At GCSE, they carry out fieldwork on the coast and in Bristol. Along the way, students learn to read maps, analyse data, weigh up different viewpoints and present their own conclusions with confidence.
