Drama

Drama at Crispin gives students the chance to step into someone else’s shoes and see the world differently. From silent movies and melodrama in Year 7 to Shakespeare, verbatim theatre and the physical theatre of Frantic Assembly, students explore stories from different social, cultural, moral and historical settings, and learn about theatre design and technical theatre as well as performance.

Drama is a team effort. Students negotiate roles, share ideas, solve problems and make decisions together, so they learn to be ready to take part and kind to the people they create with. Performing their work builds confidence, and evaluating the work of others challenges them to think more deeply. At GCSE, students study performance, directing and design, devise their own theatre and bring existing scripts to life. As part of our Performing Arts faculty, alongside Music, Drama also plays a big part in school life beyond the classroom.
